CWA-SEIU 9423 Bargaining Update - 2/22/24

It was great to see a majority of our members at the Special Unit Membership
Meeting on Wednesday night. Stay engaged & stay united!
Your CWA bargaining team began passing economic proposals and continued
discussions on temp worker protections on Thursday, February 22nd. We were
able to secure the contractual right to a steward in the reasonable
accommodations interactive process. However, management continues to hold
to their position regarding temporary workers.
“Other employers are abusing their temporary workers, but we are not doing that.
[...] From my perspective, there is no issue here.” - Robert Klimczak, Chief of
Organizing, regarding creating a temp worker pathway to permanency & cap on
temps

Tentative Agreements:
● Article 4 - UNION REPRESENTATION
● Article 23 - LAYOFF & REINSTATEMENT (Clean-up language)
These are the articles that SEIU 521 management presented at the negotiation
table:

● Article 2 - UNION SECURITY - REJECTED
These are the articles that CWA 9423 presented at the negotiation table:
● Article 5 - NON-DISCRIMINATION
● Article 13 - PROGRESSIVE DISCIPLINE
● Article 19 - TRANSPORTATION, MILEAGE
● Article 20 - VACATION
● Article 18 - HOLIDAYS
● Article 32 - BILINGUAL
● Article 33 - CELL PHONE/INTERNET
● Article 42 - FLEX PLAN

All proposals, including the presentation about our contract expiring, are
posted in our bargaining team Google Drive folder HERE. We are making our
best effort to update this drive as quickly as possible.
 

Our upcoming bargaining dates are:
● 2/29/2024 10am-1pm
● 3/11/2024 9am-12pm
● 3/28/2024 9am-5pm
