SEIU Bargaining Report - March 11, 2024

CWA-SEIU 9423 Bargaining Update - 3/11/24

Great job on sending out the email action this morning. We had a super majority of
members send the email prior to and during bargaining. It allowed us to have a
powerful position at the table while presenting the full scope of our economic

CWA presented:
● Wages: 7% for the first year, and 5% each for the 2nd and 3rd year.
● Hours of Employment: Staff is entitled to a comp day for any weekend day
worked. (instead of only 8 weekend days per month).
● No changes to Healthcare
● Cell Phone & Internet reimbursements: $100 for cell phone and $100 for internet
as an automatic reimbursement for all CWA members.
● Retiree Medical: Match to OPEIU contract language; Employer provided medical
benefits for 5 years after retirement for those with at least 15 years of service and
age 58 or older at time of retirement.
● Lead pay: Increase from 6% to 10%
● Housing: Match Salinas office to Santa Cruz & San Jose rate.
● Holidays: Indigenous People’s Day (2nd Monday in October)

All proposals, including the presentation about our contract expiring, are posted
in our bargaining team Google Drive folder HERE. We are making our best effort to
update this drive as quickly as possible.

Our upcoming bargaining dates are:
● 3/21/2024 1pm-5pm
● 3/28/2024 9am-5pm
With a day-long bargaining session scheduled on March 28th. Please continue to stay
informed on how to be involved and ensure we get the best contract possible.

2. Please join us at the next unit membership meeting to discuss today’s bargaining
session and open the floor for any questions.
3. Please be on the lookout for information from your CATs for the following actions:
a. Region 1 & 2 training - Friday March 15th San Jose, CA
b. SEIU 521’s Executive Board Meeting - Saturday March 23rd in Fresno, CA
